Born in Prishtina, Kosovo, Ymeri has debuted at the Tirana National Opera & Ballet with the role of Tamino from the opera “Magic Flute” by W.A. Mozart (2011). After that Ymeri becomes one of the preferred singers of their audience and management, and continued to work with them, doing the role of Nemorino from opera “L’elisir d’Amore” by Donizetti (2012), the role of Acomat from the renconstructed opera “Scanderbeg” by Antonio Vivaldi – Francesco Venerucci, the role of Damjan from national Albanian opera “Skenderbeu-Scanderbeg” by P.Jakova, performed in Tirana and at the Skopje National Opera in a guest production. Recently, in May 2013, Ymeri made his debut as Don Ottavio in “Don Giovanni” by W.A. Mozart and in November 2013 as Walther in “Tannhäuser” by R.Wagner. He has also performed the role of the First Jew in the opera “Salome” by R. Strauss at the Festival of Aegean 2012, in Greece. Ymeri had two performances of the role of Beppe in the opera “Rita” by G. Donizetti in 2009, with the Orchestra of the Macedonian Opera and with the Kosovo Philharmonic Orchestra. His repertoire includes also the “Requiem” by W.A.Mozart.

He was presented in some international music festivals such as: Festival of the Aegean - Greece, Histria Festival - Croatia, Summa Cum Laude - Vienna, Chopin Festival, Dam Festival & Re Musica in Prishtina, “Days of Macedonian Music” in Skopje etc.

He also appeared in different concerts in Brussels at Bozar Hall, Ravenna at Alighieri Theatre, New York at Carnegie Hall and Symphony Space, Greece at La Piccola Scala, London, Paris, etc.

He was the winner of the 2nd prize at the International Classical Music Competition “Ars Kosova 2006” in Prishtina. Also, he won the 2nd prize at the Opera Competition “Jorgjia Truja 2009” in Tirana. In 2009 he was the semi-finalist at the “10th Marie Kraja Voice Competition” in Tirana and quarter-finalist at “6th Leyla Gencer Voice Competition” organised by La Scala in Istanbul (2010). 3rd prize at the Gerda Lissner Foundation and Grant prize winner at the Giulio Gari Foundation in New York (2014).

He has been a participant in several concerts with the Kosovo Filharmony-Opera Orchestra; “Charity Concert’’ (with the world renowned soprano Ermonela Jaho), and massive TV shows in Kosovo and in Albania. Particularly to be mentioned is the “Grand Gala Concert for the 100th Anniversary of Albania” among internationally estimated artists like: Inva Mula, Enkelejda Shkosa, Saimir Pirgu.

In 2013, Ymeri recorded the highlights from the very first Albanian opera “Mrika” with the National Albanian Television-Orchestra. Ymeri presented the role of Doda.

Riad Ymeri was nominated in 2012 by the Kult Awards in Albania, as: “Lyric Interpreter” of the year.
